2×2m raft on the Aare — the most fun you can have on a river
The Stand-Up Floss is the most social way to take on the Aare — a 2×2m raft that two to four people can actually stand, sit, and lounge on as the river carries you north from Thun toward Bern. Konrad builds the raft, leads from the water alongside you, and knows every current shift and safe landing on the 30 km route.
Groups that have done the regular rubber boat experience consistently say the Floss is the upgrade. More space, more interaction, more presence on the water. The Aare does the work — you bring the conversation and sunscreen.
Meet at Thun Lachen
Konrad assembles the Floss and briefs the group on river currents, safety signals and the day's route. Wetsuits fitted, valuables packed in dry bags.
Launch below the Thun weir
The Aare exits Lake Thun here — already emerald-green and moving at a good pace. First 10 km pass through riverside parks and the edge of Thun.
Uttigen bend — first stop
A wide, quiet bend good for swimming off the raft. Remote enough that you'll likely have the bank to yourselves. Konrad scouts conditions.
Bremgarten Forest
The most peaceful section — 10 km of pure forest, no roads, no buildings. Lunch on the raft if you packed it, or wait for the café at Marzili.
Marzili take-out, Bern
The iconic finishing point below the Bundeshaus. Locals swim here every afternoon. The raft comes out, Konrad coordinates return transport to Thun.
Classic put-in with changing rooms and lawn. The Aare is already deep and clear as it leaves the lake.
10 km of forest-lined river with no roads on either bank. The quietest section of the entire route.
The iconic take-out below the Bundeshaus. One of the most photographed river banks in Switzerland.
