Morning hike to Harder Kulm, Aare swim at noon, ice cream walk and dinner in Interlaken
The Mountain and Water full day combines the Berner Oberland's two defining experiences: altitude and the Aare. The morning goes up — Harder Kulm if you want panorama, or the Lauterbrunnen valley floor for waterfall scale. The midday comes back down to the Aare for a cold-water swim. The evening ends with dinner in Interlaken.
Konrad paces the day to the group's energy and the season. On good days in July or August this is close to a perfect day in Switzerland.
Harder Kulm ascent
Early start before the heat. The trail is steep and the summit panorama requires a cloud-free morning — Konrad checks the forecast the night before.
Summit coffee
Thermos at the top. Both lakes below, the Eiger and Jungfrau in front. The funicular restaurant opens at 09:30 if preferred.
Descent to Interlaken
Forest trail back to town. Cool and shaded even in summer. Konrad identifies alpine flora on the way down.
Aare swim — Interlaken section
Wetsuits on at the Interlaken Aare entry. Cold, fast, and clear. Konrad swims alongside and reads the current.
Rest and ice cream
Warm up on the Interlaken main boulevard. Ice cream from the traditional gelateria near the casino.
Dinner in Interlaken
Konrad's restaurant selection based on the group's preference — Swiss, Italian, or one of the new small restaurants on the west side of town.
1,322 m directly above Interlaken. Both lakes in a single frame. Best sunrise panorama in the Berner Oberland.
The river between the two lakes — fast, cold and glacier-clear. The town's residents swim here every day of summer.
