Über Mürren
Mürren perches on a narrow shelf 1,638m above the Lauterbrunnen Valley floor, clinging to the cliff edge with unobstructed views of the Eiger, Mönch, and Jungfrau. No road reaches the village — access is exclusively by cable car from Stechelberg or by cog railway from Grütschalp. The result is complete silence except for cowbells, birdsong, and the wind.
The Schilthornbahn ascends a further 1,300m to the Schilthorn peak (2,970m), where the revolving Piz Gloria restaurant filmed scenes for the 1969 James Bond film "On Her Majesty's Secret Service."
